Is the first consultation really free?
Yes. 20 minutes by phone, video or in the office, for tenants, small businesses and wills. If we can't help, we'll say so and suggest where to go, like the local bar association's lawyer referral service or a legal aid office.
Does contacting you make you my lawyer?
No. Calling, emailing or sending a request doesn't create an attorney-client relationship. We become your lawyers only after we both sign an engagement letter. Until then, please don't send confidential details or documents.
How do flat fees work?
Before we start, we write down the work, the price and what isn't included, like court filing fees. The price stays the same if it takes us longer. If the matter grows, for example a letter turns into a court case, we quote the next step separately and you decide.
¿Hablan español?
Sí. Tomás y Lucía hablan español. La consulta gratis, las llamadas y la explicación de cada documento pueden ser en español.
I have a court date this week. What should I do?
Call (555) 010-0163 instead of emailing. If we can't take your case in time, we'll tell you right away and point you to the court's help desk or a legal aid office.
Can I pay in parts?
Yes. Flat fees over $1,000 can be split into two or three payments, written into your engagement letter.
